Waterloo North Hydro
Waterloo North Hydro (WNH) supplies electricity to more than 50,000 homes and businesses and is proud to work with customers to save money and conserve energy. This ensures a reliable supply of electricity to our community and promotes a greener future.
WNH’s partnership with REEP significantly enhances the services they can offer their customers. WNH commends REEP for local efforts to promote energy efficiency and safeguard the environment.
There are a number of exciting conservation and demand-management initiatives being delivered through WNH. These include:
- The Great Refrigerator Roundup/Fridge Pick-up – Have your old fridge or freezer picked up for free. We’ll even haul it out of your basement for you!
- peaksaver – A free programmable thermostat installed at no charge that can reduce your central air conditioner usage on peak days. Join the Movement two degrees at a time.
- Power Savings Blitz – Receive up to $1,000 in free lighting upgrades for your small business.
- Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program – Improving your business' bottom line through energy efficient upgrades.

Regional Municipality of Waterloo
The Region of Waterloo’s Strategic Focus 2007-2010 sees a region which “will be an inclusive, thriving and sustainable community committed to maintaining harmony between rural and urban areas and fostering opportunities for current and future generations." One of the environmental objectives that will help achieve this vision is to effectively use and manage energy resources and reduce greenhouse gases and other air emissions. Our long-standing partnership with REEP has been an effective method for accomplishing this objective to reach the community by providing opportunities for homeowners to contribute to a more sustainable tomorrow.
The City of Kitchener
The City of Kitchener is proud of its long-standing relationship with the Residential Energy Efficiency Program (REEP). The City supports the continuing effort of REEP to provide homeowners with practical, hands-on tools and assistance that enable sustainable resource use. Through REEP citizens have the opportunity to take action on climate change, contribute to cleaner air, combat rising energy costs and make their community a better place to live.
The City of Cambridge
The City of Cambridge has a history with air quality initiatives and has worked with the Region of Waterloo, community organizations, staff, residents, and other municipalities to plan, improve, and build projects and awareness. In 2008, the City built the first LEED® gold certified City Hall in Canada. The City continues to proudly support community organizations, such as the Residential Energy Efficiency Program (Waterloo Region Green Solutions). .
Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro
Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro provides electricity to 81,000 Kitchener and Wilmot residents. The corporation was founded in 1906 as the Berlin Light Commission.
Now Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro offers much more than lighting to our community. Examples include sponsorship of the Children’s Museum of Waterloo Region and REEP, as well as our own School and Public Safety Program.

Kitchener Utilities
Kitchener Utilities has provided our community with natural gas and water for more than 100 years. As a community-owned utility, we are dedicated to bringing our customers value in essential services to your home or business. As taxpayers, most of our more than 60,000 customers are also our owners.
