Information Regarding Retrofoam
Feb. 4, 2009
Dear REEP Customers,
We are surprised to hear Health Canada's conclusion that Retrofoam is a urea formaldehyde-based product. The Spec Sheets provided by the manufacturer specifically say that it does not contain formaldehyde, and a Tech Sheet on the Retrofoam website describes its product as an “environmentally safe and friendly product made from nitrogen-based organic polymers. The foam is non-toxic and contains no solvents or petro-chemicals.”
We are continuing to investigate this issue and we will keep our customers informed as new information comes forward.
Regarding ecoENERGY Grants:
Natural Resources Canada's ecoENERGY program will continue to provide incentives to homeowners participating in their program who installed the product, based on the insulation value that it provides.
